The beginning of this exclusive full-day journey starts with the pick-up from your accommodation at 9am by your private guide in a comfortable vehicle. It will be a trip where nature, gastronomy and the viniculture will go hand in hand to ensure you the best quality experience possible.
Heading to the Douro Valley we will stop at one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region. Time to seize the panoramic view over the hills, and the mingle of green and blue, of this unique geography. Do you like taking photos or making videos? Surely you will feel inspired to express your art.
After the first stop, we will proceed our journey passing through the longest road tunnel in Portugal, the Marão tunnel.
As we officially enter the Douro region, which is considered part of UNESCO's World Heritage since 2001, you can admire the terraces used for vineyards that prints the Douro Valley a dazzling and unique character. A mesmerising scenery carved by the very hand of man, over many generations.
You are precisely in one of the oldest wine regions in the world. And for this very reason you will feel driven to experience this Douro tour to the fullest, starting with a visit to one of the most modern local wine producing estates. During the shared guided tour, you will not only learn more about the origin, history and the most recent and advanced production process of these wines, but will also be guided by the estate's own guide. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in a tasting of several selected wines considered to be the latest trends.
Once you have become more familiar with the atmosphere of the wineries, the private tour continues and while you are off to enjoy your lunch, you can take this time to place your questions to your exclusive guide. You will thus be taken on a journey of flavours through typical Portuguese gastronomy. Where you may enjoy your time and your palate with traditional dishes in a selected wine producing farm and with a drink option of water or wine. As you delight in your lunch (included), you can take the opportunity to contemplate the scenery and enjoy the beautiful landscapes around.
After your lunch, you can enjoy a relaxing 45-minute panoramic cruise along the famous Douro River (shared with other participants). The view from the Douro River is unique and allows you to admire landscapes from both banks that will leave you dazzled, from wine estates or local houses on the hillside, to the fascinating vineyards.
Your specialized guide will then take you along the snaked narrow local roads, to a new shared visit of a second, but now older winery. As you explore this vineyard together with the local estate guide, the history of the house, its owners and the renowned Port wine will be unveiled to you, along with countless details of the winemaking know-how. And you can taste the result of all this knowledge and labour with a tasting of selected Port wines including white, red.
As we finish this experience, enjoy the overwhelming scenery on the way back, which will take us safely to the city of Porto. Your guide will drop you off comfortably at your accommodation, thus ending an unforgettable trip.
