We will begin this private full day trip with a pick up from your accommodation by your guide in a comfortable vehicle.
During the selected itinerary you will notice that the Dão Region is a mountainous area encircled by several mountain ranges that protect the vines from the weather conditions, namely the winds that come from the Atlantic. This ensures an excellent geography for the production of wines. Did you know that the Touriga Nacional grape variety is the national queen and originally comes from this region? Or that this was the 1st Portuguese region to bottle and distribute wines?
You will discover the best that this wine region has to offer, with the Dão wines being the perfect example of tradition and culture in this area. That is why this adventure will gather and provide you not only with one, but two exclusive experiences at different local wine-producing estates with tasting included. In the first estate we will visit you can discover a modern and appealing place, surrounded by vineyards, where you will learn about the most recent wine production and storage processes. You will be able to taste selected wines from this Dão wine producing house.
You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the magnificent and mystical historic centre of Viseu, an ancient city in the Dão Wine Region. Discover the history of the famous Lusitanian warrior, Viriato, and his statue, the "Cava de Viriato".
Seize the moment to take a trip through the typical Portuguese gastronomy of the region, tasting traditional dishes. In 2019, Viseu was recognised as the "National Gastronomy Destination". Enjoy leisure time in this "Garden City", with its natural green spaces, parks, gardens and charming fountains. Immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere of Viseu, and its local attractions. In the afternoon we will leave Viseu towards a second Dão wine production estate. In contrast to the visit made in the morning, you will have the opportunity to experience an ancient place, filled with tradition and ancestral wine knowledge.
