In the first chapter of this private tour, we will head for Braga - the capital of Minho and a city with over 2000 years of history - where you will be able to explore all its heritage, everything that is precious and even considered a relic.
As a religious tourism destination, this exclusive tour will begin with a visit to the famous Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary. It is extremely well known for its long staircase with 573 steps, decorated in a characteristic way, more precisely with several baroque features. In addition, you can enjoy the marvellous view that surrounds you once you reach the top of the stairs. You can take photos and videos to share later.
Then we will descend into the city centre to discover the best of this young city with modern dynamics. We include a guided walking tour through the city's streets, main monuments and points of interest, including the magnificent Santa Barbara garden which is covered with colour and perfume.
Benefiting from the most religious and historical side of the city, you will also have the opportunity to go on a guided tour to Braga Cathedral - or Sé de Braga - which is the oldest cathedral in the country, since it was begun to be built in 1089 on a site that was previously a Roman place of worship. This cathedral mixes several types of architectural styles, giving it an even more unique look, and it holds the tombs of the parents of King Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal.
You may take a break and relax in the centre of Braga while enjoying a traditional lunch (included), that will bring you closer and connect you even better with the whole gastronomic culture of this land. You can also enjoy your free time in this dazzling historical and lively area of the city, marvelling at the architectural details and the vibrant atmosphere that Braga radiates.
Afterwards we will continue towards Guimarães, which has been a World Heritage Site since 2001 and is the city where Portugal and the first king, Afonso Henriques, were born.
We will make you feel part of royalty through a dedicated visit to Guimarães Castle itself, which is seen as a symbol of the beginning of Portugal's history. And you will understand its importance by following the presentation made by your exclusive guide, who will have much to unveil to make you travel back in time to the 10th century.
And to learn even more about the "Cradle of Portugal", of course a walk through the iconic city of Guimarães could not be missing, namely its streets and endless details, with a stop at São Tiago Square and Largo da Oliveira.
Where you will find the Church of Nossa Senhora de Oliveira, a beautiful example of the Romanesque style of architecture. It is in this historic space and during your free time that you can enjoy a stroll, have a drink or relax on a terrace, while glimpsing the beauty of the squares remembering them with the last photos of this trip.
To end this experience of yours through the two jewels of Minho, your guide will return in complete comfort and safety, right up to the door of your accommodation.
